The life-changer

Parable is the church financial team that helps churches keep every dollar on mission through accounting, payroll, and CFO services. For The Pilgrimage, their annual internal event held this year in Austin, Texas, they asked ArtSpeak Creative to develop a concept for the theme “Becoming Bazaar.” And they asked for a new illustrated character, Austin the Macaque, to embody the core team mindset of “curiosity.”

The reach

For this project, Parable’s goal was to reach their internal audience—the remote teammates from across the U.S. who want to celebrate their accomplishments and each other.

In collaboration with their team, we chose a style that felt like an Indian bazaar—colorful, playful, and vibrant. For the concept graphics, we elevated two of the brand’s most vibrant colors, yellow and orange, to be primary. We then used their brand’s blue and off-white as neutral accent colors. We filigreed their key logo to elevate the “special” feeling of the event.

Austin the Macaque is a hand-drawn illustration wearing cowboy boots and a monocle. Plus, he has a fun energy that reminds us of our friends at Parable!

The win

Not only was The Pilgrimage a success, but Austin the Macaque will make his way into Parable’s overall brand expression. Keep an eye out for him in the future!
